Take a break from binge-watching the latest Netflix hit and instead, put your coding skills to the test!

What is the Hackathon Club?

The ¿Û¿ÛÄÛ±Æ Hackathon Club started in 2016 by bringing students of all skill levels together to collaborate on software development projects by hosting “hackathons,” which are marathon-like coding competitions where students are placed on teams and challenged to work together to complete a specific goal.

These events typically last anywhere from four to twelve hours, hosted both in-person in ¿Û¿ÛÄ۱ƒs computer science department and virtually. To complete the goal, students brainstorm ideas and leverage technology tools to design and create software projects. Based on certain criteria for completion, prizes are often awarded to the top-achieving teams.

Products from past hackathons have included:

  • A skydiving simulator
  • A jungle survival challenge
  • A virtual tour of ¿Û¿ÛÄÛ±Æ
  • A zombie chase game
  • An adventure quest
  • A remake of a classic PC game

Be sure to check the Upcoming Events page for details on the next Hackathon.
